Michael Faraday

Faraday reasoned that, if an electrical current can create a magnetical field, a magnetical field should be able to create an electrical current. In 1831 he demonstrated this principle of induction and built the Faraday Disc. He provided the experimental, and a good deal of the theoretical, foundation upon which James Clerk Maxwell erected classical electromagnetic field theory.
