Gustav Robert Kirchhoff

In 1845, as a student, Kirchhoff announced Kirchhoff’s laws, which allow calculation of the currents, voltages, and resistances of electrical networks. Extending the theory of Georg Simon Ohm, he generalized the equations describing current flow to the case of electrical conductors in three dimensions. In further studies he demonstrated that current flows through a conductor at the speed of light.

Using SASensor measurements for advanced MV network management

Locamation BV has recently introduced a new concept of a complete integrated secondary installation in MV substations, called: SASensor® "the Power of Simplicity".

SASensor consists of long life current, voltage and breaker interface modules (CIM, VIM and BIM), connected with one or two central control units (CCU). Through the Versatile Control Unit (VCU) all data from the substation are available to both control center and office.

Phase to Phase is using and processing SASensor measurements for fault localization, power quality and pseudo monitoring in MV networks. The development of these applications, using real time information from substations, gives new possibilities to asset managers and network developers.
