Phase to Phase quarterly update: New features for grid management Q2 2026
In this quarterly update, we highlight a hidden gem in Gaia LV Network Design.

We are always improving our products so that they can better support you in planning, designing, and managing your grids. Every quarter, we add new functionalities. This update discusses this quarter’s most important improvements, and describes how they help you strengthening your grid management.
With the metering data module in Vision Cloud Solution, distribution system operators can actually perform calculations using their own smart meter data. The use of real-world data enables new applications. For Westland Infra Netbeheer, this way of working is now a reality: this DSO works in Vision CS with its own meter data, made available through Alliander’s P5 portal.
As always, we are continuing to improve our products, ensuring they do an even better job at helping you plan, design, and manage your power networks. Every quarter, we add new functionalities. This update brings you up to speed on this quarter’s most important improvements and shows you how they can help you enhance your grid management.
Since its first publication in 2011, the book ‘Netwerken voor distributie van elektriciteit’ (Networks for Electricity Distribution) has become an indispensable standard for professionals in the Dutch power industry and students at technical universities and colleges. Produced and shared by Phase to Phase, the book offers a comprehensive overview of the history, the structure and the composition of public electricity networks in the Netherlands.
We have rebuilt Vision Grid Navigator from scratch. Users can now benefit from an improved user interface, a faster graphic engine, and more tailor-made options. The fully renewed Vision Grid Navigator is available in the download portal.
Calculating the thermal load of electricity cables, transformers, and other components can lead to better use of available grid capacity. Research suggests that grid operators can achieve large potential capacity gains. Phase to Phase is therefore including these methods in its simulation application, Vision Network Analysis.
Large-scale changes in Vision Cloud Solution have just become a lot simpler. The “Large-scale Engineering Scenarios” function allows you to implement large-scale changes to your simulated network across your catchment area at the press of a button. This makes it easy to change a cable or fuse type, for instance, or to reinforce distribution transformers.
Starting with version 9.9, Vision Network Analysis supports calculations for flexible connection contracts. Calculations for these new contract types offers grid operators and other Vision users even greater insight into scarce grid space. This allows them to use this more efficiently and make space available to (sustainable) clients.
Starting with Gaia LV Network Design 8.8.1, you will now be able to select rapid load flow calculation for a network. This option is up to six times faster and is particularly suited for rough calculations in cases where precise calculation is not immediately necessary. For example, it allows you to calculate the load flow of merging various large networks. Or to calculate the consequences of a scenario for some point in the distant future.
The Nettoets (Grid Check) in Vision Cloud Solution automates the process of checking grid reinforcements and new power grid connections. Stedin is now taking this functionality one step further. Incoming requests at Stedin are assessed automatically by the Nettoets. Requests with a positive assessment do not need to be checked by an engineer anymore; they are submitted right away. This reduces processing times and provides customers with a quicker insight in their request. It also allows for the Stedin engineers to be assigned to the more complex requests, which is where they are needed most.
Users of Vision Cloud Solution and attendees at the user day have already seen it: the user interface has undergone a major makeover. The changes increase user comfort, enhance readability, and improve search functionality.
